Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between interior design and interior decoration?

Interior design focuses on the functional planning of spaces - think layouts, cabinetry, lighting, materials and finishes often in collaboration with builders or architects. Interior Decoration, on the other hand, focuses on the aesthetic layers that that make a house feel like a home: furniture, fabrics, artwork and accessories.

I offer both interior design and decoration services, so whether you’re renovating your kitchen or simply want to refresh your living room with colour and personality, we can tailor the service to suit.

How does your interior design process work?

I start with a personalised consultation to get to know your lifestyle, taste, and the vision you have for your home. From there, I develop detailed concepts, floor plans, drawings, and furniture and materials selections—guiding you through each step so decisions feel easy, not overwhelming. Once the design is approved, I manage sourcing, ordering, and can coordinate trades where required. My aim is to make the entire process organised, inspiring, and enjoyable.

Do you offer interior design services outside Brisbane ?

Yes! While many of my projects are based in Brisbane and South East Queensland, I also offer virtual consultations and can travel for select interstate or international projects. Whether you’re building remotely, need guidance with selections, or want a full interior concept, we can work together no matter where you live.

Can you help with just one room, like a kitchen or bathroom?

Absolutely. I specialise in kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and mudrooms, and can also help with single-room decoration projects such as bedrooms or living spaces. A well-designed room can completely change the feel of your home, and focusing on one space may be the right approach depending on your individual needs, budget and timeline.

How much does it cost to work with an interior designer?

Pricing depends on the scope of your project, but I offer a range of options — from a one-hour Design Clarity Consultation for tailored advice virtual or in person, a two hour Home Review Consultation through to full-service interior design and decoration. After an initial chat, I’ll provide a clear, personalised quote based on the specific scope of work for your project.

Do you work with my existing furniture and décor?

Yes, where it makes sense. Many clients have sentimental or quality pieces they’d like to keep. I can incorporate those items into the design and layer new elements around them for a cohesive and refreshed look. This often adds character and a sense of history and personality to the space.

How long does a typical interior design project take?

Timelines vary depending on scope, but as a general guide: Interior Decoration projects usually take 3-6 months from concept to installation. Kitchen, bathroom or full home designs can take 6-18 months depending on size of project and construction schedules. I’ll outline a realistic timeline at the start so you know what to expect and I keep things moving as smoothly as possible.

Why should I hire an interior designer instead of doing it myself?

Hiring a designer saves you time, money, and decision fatigue. I bring a trained eye, trade connections, and years of experience creating homes that are both beautiful and deeply functional. My role is to guide you through choices confidently, avoid costly mistakes, and deliver a timeless, personalised result you’ll love coming home to.

Where do I start if I have a residential interior design or decorating project in mind?

If you’re ready to get started on your residential interior design or decorating project, the best place to begin is by filling out the enquiry form on my contact page. Once I receive your details, I’ll be in touch within 48 hours to schedule a discovery call.

This is a relaxed introductory chat where we’ll talk about your project and what you’re hoping to achieve, and I’ll share more about my services and how I work. It’s the ideal first step to see if we’re the right fit - whether it’s a kitchen or bathroom renovation, a single-room transformation, or a full-home interior design project in Brisbane or beyond.
